In these times, trials are now being conducted via Zoom and other virtual platforms. Michael Behn recently served on the faculty and whistleblower’s team to teach other lawyers how to try a virtual False Claims Act case to a jury.
A mock virtual trial was conducted with actual jurors, who reached a unanimous verdict for the government and the whistleblower. The jury awarded all damages requested.
The program, sponsored by the American Bar Association, was called “The Inaugural ABA False Claims Virtual Trial Program.” Presiding over the trial was The Honorable Greg Costa of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and government attorneys served with Mike on the plaintiffs’ team. Mike has been asked to serve on the faculty again next year.
