Behn & Wyetzner attorney Michael Behn teamed with government investigators and whistleblowers at a training session hosted by the Illinois Association of Inspectors General. Drawing on his years of experience prosecuting fraud under the False Claims Act, Behn spoke on the merits of utilizing whistleblowers to investigate and prosecute government fraud. Behn provided examples of successful multi-state investigations, a brief history of the False Claims Act, and insight into the subtle nuance of a False Claims Act action. “Whistleblowers know where the bodies are buried,” said Behn. “But instead of uncovering shallow graves, whistleblowers uncover a key email or foreign bank account that can blow a fraud case wide open.”
